The collar is one of the most important parts of a shirt, since it makes the difference and defines your personal style and enhances your look. Depending on its use and on fashion, we can find different styles of collars that frame our face shape, thus delivering the desired effect.
1- Italian collar"Versatile, with straight, closed-sit and downward-spread points"
Mainly used in the 1970s, it is also known as the standard Italian collar. Its points are longer and sit closer together, creating a visual effect that makes rounder faces look slightly longer.

2- Classic Italian collar"Wider spread and shorter points"
This is the Italian collar par excellence, a classic in Italian men's fashion. Businessmen combine it with long, narrow ties with small knots. Its shape creates a visual effect that makes rounder faces look slightly longer.

3- Classic French collar"Modern, with wider spread and shorter points"
This is a more refined and contemporary collar that offers a versatile and more casual style, suitable for different occasions, with or without a tie.
It fits wider knot ties, such as the one popularised by Duke of Windsor, with a line that softens and balances longer facial contours.

4- Semi-French collar"Modern, with little spread"
It is a hybrid of the Italian collar and the French collar, and its modern and smart style provides balance for oval, long and narrow faces.
It suits any look, whether formal with a medium or large knot tie, or casual without a tie.

5- Button-Down collar"Casual, perfect when not wearing a tie"
It was introduced in 1800 in the United States by the men's fashion brand Brook Brothers, inspired by English polo players who used this format to keep the collar's points from lifting up.
It is considered a casual model for sportswear lovers and it can be worn with jeans, chinos or dress trousers, as well as with tweed jackets, woollen suits, and even more elegantly, with solid ties.

6- Korean collar“Casual and trendy”
Also known as Mao collar, as it is inspired by garments used in the Imperial China. This is a very popular model for casual, relaxed linen shirts in summer seasons. In recent times we have seen this garment on young men, who combine this kind of collars with blazers in a more casual way.
In the past, these collars were used with tunics and nightdresses, later with black ties and white ties, and nowadays it is worn with sheer, casual shirts.

7- Wing collar"Elegant for wearing with a black tie"
This is the most formal collar. Its points stick outwards, and this kind of collar is worn in very elegant occasions, where the use of cufflinks is also a must.
